The Louisiana Police Jury Association Black Caucus is a collective of African American parish leaders committed to advancing equity, representation, and opportunity across Louisiana. We serve as a unified voice for Black elected officials and the communities we represent—working to ensure that local leadership reflects the diversity, strength, and potential of our people.
Our members are dedicated to building stronger parishes through advocacy, education, and collaboration. From improving infrastructure and expanding economic opportunities to promoting civic engagement and youth empowerment, the Black Caucus stands at the intersection of policy and progress.
We believe that representation matters. When communities see themselves reflected in leadership, trust grows, policies shift, and lasting change begins. The Caucus provides a platform where leaders from every corner of Louisiana can share best practices, shape legislation, and develop solutions rooted in equity and access.
In 2024, under the leadership of Black Caucus President Lady Brown, our impact reached a historic milestone. Through her vision and persistence, a resolution was passed establishing the first-ever early voting location in Jeanerette, Louisiana—a predominantly Black city in Iberia Parish. This achievement opened doors for hundreds of residents to cast their early votes locally for the very first time, breaking down long-standing barriers to participation and empowering more citizens to engage in the democratic process.
This milestone represents what the Black Caucus stands for: leadership that creates pathways, equity that builds trust, and progress that uplifts every community.
Together, we are shaping a future where every parish in Louisiana—rural or urban, small or large—has the resources, representation, and respect it deserves.

Members of the LPJA Black Caucus joined citizens and leaders from across Louisiana at the State Capitol to stand in unity for Fair Maps — a call for fair and equitable representation in every district. This movement is about ensuring that every community’s voice is heard and every vote counts. Together, we stood with organizations and advocates from around the state to demand transparency, accountability, and maps that truly reflect the people of Louisiana. Representation matters — and we remain committed to protecting it.

The LPJA Black Caucus proudly formed an alliance with Liberia through the Louisiana and Liberia Leadership Alliance, expanding our legacy of leadership beyond borders. This partnership fosters cultural exchange, economic growth, and shared governance grounded in unity and purpose. Together, we rise — amplifying every voice, honoring every heritage, and shaping a future where all communities are seen, valued, and represented.
